Hemlocks at the Preserve: Ecology and management in the face of hemlock woolly adelgid
9 - 11 a.m.
Eastern hemlock trees (Tsuga canadensis) can grow to be over 100’ tall and live for 500 years. The species is as beautiful as it is ecologically important. An exotic insect – hemlock woolly adelgid – is poised to dramatically impact Maine’s hemlock populations. Join Director of Lands Tate Bushell to learn about hemlock ecology and discuss our plans to manage the adelgid on our natural lands.
