Monologue and Scene Work using Breath Awareness

Showings

Lyric Theatre Wed, May 22 11:59 PM

Description

This course is for the actor who wants to work on material either by themselves (monologues) or with another (scene work). Breath Awareness Technique is an acting approach that makes the work accessible at any level of experience. It is based on Lucinda McDermott’s extensive training with actor Michael Moriarty in New York and informed by her training at HB Studios in Method based techniques, other acting techniques infused with her own experiences. This technique does not negate other performance approaches, but rather provides a structure and base for the actor to develop their own technique by gaining control over their physical and vocal instrument while at the same time allowing for an organic connection to the text. In this workshop we will utilize breath awareness exercises, movement, improv, and
texts of your choosing. It is expected that you will work on material between classes. This course will conclude with a presentation of monologues and scenes for an invited audience. This course is designed for adult and teen students (9th grade and beyond).
