In a rural hamlet outside of Tokyo, Takumi (Hitoshi Omika) and his daughter lead a quiet life in harmony with nature, collecting water, wood, and wild wasabi for a local restaurant. When Takumi is approached by representatives of a travel agency seeking to build an opulent camping site for city-dwellers within the hamlet, he feels conflicted about providing guidance for a project that can negatively impact his life and community. Director Ryûsuke Hamaguchi’s follow-up to the Academy-Award winning Drive My Car is an atmospheric fable about humanity’s relationship with the environment.
