The Founding is a progressive folk band from Kalamazoo. With their timeless, powerful approach to songwriting and unique instrumentation, they strive to balance tradition and innovation as they bring new music to life. This genre-defining band has performed at theaters and festivals throughout the United States, including appearances at the Kerrville Folk Festival, Beaver Island Music Festival, Cheboygan Opera House, and the Jackson Symphony’s Weatherwax Hall, among many others. Members of The Founding are lead singer and flautist Elizabeth June; fiddler and vocalist John Robey; mandolinist and fiddler Joel Tyrone Myers; keyboardist, violist, and percussionist Lukas Stanley; guitarist and cellist Patrick Hartson; and bassist and vocalist Kyle Pitcher. Songs from their flagship album have been featured on NPR affiliates as well as Michigan Irish Music Café, Sounds Like Ireland, and The Irish and Celtic Music Podcast.

A Celtic Christmas will involve a mix of original Christmas songs, classic Christmas tunes, a few sing-alongs, and some of the band’s non-Christmas originals.
