Description

Prepare for an interactive evening of spoken word poetry! Four Columbia poets will perform their original spoken word poetry: Calixte Fox, Hazen Blair, Naomi Garson, and T'Keyah Thomas. Then, there will be a screening of the poetic short-film “Willing to Grow,” by Caleb “The Negro Artist” Rainey in collaboration with Brucemore Artisan Studio Project. The event closes out with a Q&A from all of the night’s poets. Come prepared to explore forgiveness, hurt, and healing.

“Willing to Grow” consists of eight powerful poems that delve into themes of romantic turmoil, misogynoir, and the aftermath of sexual assault. Through this series of vignettes, audiences are invited to confront uncomfortable truths and embrace the transformative power of forgiveness.

This event is for mature audiences as the content navigates heavy topics.
