Filmed during the 2018 midterm elections, this documentary follows three Midwestern women navigating entrenched political networks while running for public office. 22-year-old activist Myya seeks to unseat the incumbent mayor of Detroit through a youth movement. Farmer and mother Bryn runs for Township Trustee in Granville, Ohio, a town that has long been run by a conservative “old boys network.” Korean American Julie runs for State Representative as a Republican in a liberal, Chicago suburb. This screening will be followed by a community conversation led by community partner the Middleton Center for Race, Justice, and Citizenship exploring topics such as civil discourse, navigating conflict, and social difference.
