Set in mid-1960s Hartford, Connecticut, a camera crew follows Willie Pep (James Madio), a retired champion boxer who decides to stage a comeback in his mid-forties. Recreating the look and rhythm of mid-century boxing culture and Italian-American culture, director Robert Kolodny and producer/editor Robert Greene probe authenticity and performativity in this fictionalized sports biopic based on real-life boxer Willie Pep.
