Description

A Place of Rage examines and celebrates the contributions of Black women in the Civil Rights Movement through intimate interviews with Angela Davis, June Jordan, Alice Walker, and Trinh T. Minh-ha. Connecting the Civil Rights Movement with contemporary discourse about feminism, Black Power, and LGBT rights, this documentary emphasizes the importance of an intergenerational transmission of history and considers cultural production as a liberatory practice. This screening will be followed by a community conversation led by the Michael A. Middleton Center for Race, Citizenship, and Justice exploring topics such as the legacy of the Civil Rights movement, Black feminism, and cultural production.
