After a wonderfully successful tour of cinemas across the nation (over 50 shows!) with L'Inferno last year, Montopolis is thrilled to announce our next live score experience. Ghost Almanac is an 80 minute program of short horror films with live musical accompaniment and live foley. Shorts like Disney's The Skeleton Dance that have recently fallen into the public domain combine with excerpts from classics like Nosferatu, Haxan, and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari for a roller coaster ride of vintage horror fun propelled by the music of the Montopolis ensemble.
Montopolis is an indie chamber music group from Austin, Texas that performs the works of composer Justin Sherburn. Their genre-busting music uses inventive instrumentation to create "stunning and transcendent" (Austin Chronicle) concerts. Their programs are audience-engaging, multi-media events that combine live music with film and interactive storytelling. The Montopolis musicians include members of the Austin Symphony, Okkervil River, Tosca String Quartet, and the Polyphonic Spree. Montopolis is a member of the Texas Commission on the Arts touring roster.
