"Splicing together real archival video, fake documentary footage about the making of a fake biopic, and real conversations with the present-day band, Pavements is delightfully chaotic."
—NPR
"Just because Pavements is a prankish film about a prankish band doesn't make it any less deeply heartfelt. It’s one for the fans – and we are legion."
—Austin Chronicle
This new doc about the American indie band Pavement combines scripted material with documentary images of the band and a musical mise-en-scene composed of songs from their discography. This is not a straight-ahead music doc by any means but rather an often funny meditation on the meaning of music and, well, life itself. Written and directed by Alex Ross Perry (The Color Wheel, Her Smell, Listen Up Philip).
