Description

Baritone saxophonist Frank Basile and pianist Jeb Patton join forces for a duo dialogue of jazz standards, bebop anthems, and themes from the great American songbook. Basile and Patton have been collaborating for nearly two decades in groups of many sizes, but this will be their first opportunity to play in a duo setting. Both musicians are firmly grounded in the traditions that their forebears have established and have used this groundwork to inform their personal and unique musical voices.

Pianist Jeb Patton attended Duke University and Queens College where studied under Sir Roland Hanna. After moving to NYC almost three decades ago, he has established himself as one of the top pianists on the scene today. He has appeared extensively with the Heath Brothers Quartet, Charles McPherson, and George Coleman among many others. Jeb also leads his own trio, is a professor at Queens College, and has published two books.

Baritone saxophonist Frank Basile studied at the University of North Texas and furthered his private studies in NYC with Ronnie Cuber and Gary Smulyan. Dubbed a "prized sideman" by The New Yorker, Basile has proven himself as one of today's busiest and most in-demand baritone saxophonists appearing with the likes of The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, The Jimmy Heath Big Band, The Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band, The Count Basie Orchestra, and The Duke Ellington Orchestra. In addition to his duties as a sideman, Basile is the leader of his own projects including The Boss Baritones which is co-led with Gary Smulyan.
