In late 1999, the still nascent World Trade Organization convened in Seattle, Washington for what was supposed to be a routine meeting of members to negotiate international trade regulations. Instead, they were met with one of the largest U.S. protests in the 20th century. Drawing upon an immense archive of footage from newscaster broadcasts, home videos, press conferences, and citizen journalists, WTO/99 crafts an all-archival narrative connecting this moment with the ever-present hold of corporatism and capitalism today.
