In the late 1990s, a Hungarian family of six immigrate to Canada. Eight-year-old Sasha (Eylul Guven) watches as each of her family members navigate their new lives, but their hope of a fresh start is dashed when her older brother starts exhibiting increasingly dangerous behavior, forcing her parents to make a devastating choice. The feature debut of the award-winning Canadian-Hungarian filmmaker Sophy Romvari, Blue Heron is a metatextual work blending fact and fiction to explore memory, grief, and art.
