In early 9th century Ireland, 12-year-old Brendan lives in a remote abbey at risk of attack from Vikings. But adventure calls when a famous illustrator arrives from foreign lands with an ancient but unfinished book filled with mystical power. Hoping to help complete the book, Brendan must overcome his deepest fears on a dangerous quest in an enchanted forest where mythical creatures live, including the young fairy Aisling. The first installment in Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon’s Academy Award-nominated “Irish Folklore Trilogy,” The Secret of Kells is a classic tale of a young hero with rich animation bringing to life Celtic mythology.
