We welcome the memorizing talents of A Charlie Brown Christmas Quartet and Cyrus Chestnut on December 7th 2024 at 730PM. Cyrus balances his lithe technical skill with a robust, soulful style that speaks to his deep gospel roots and love of swinging hard bop. Raised in the church, he learned how to infuse his swinging, classically trained style with a warm gospel sound, a style that first marked his work as a sideman, backing legendary vocalists Jon Hendricks and Betty Carter, as well as with instrumentalists like Donald Harrison and Wynton Marsalis. He further perfected his approach as a leader, recording a bevy of small group albums for Atlantic, like 1998's Cyrus Chestnut, and as a member of the Manhattan Trinity with bassist George Mraz and drummer Lewis Nash. Most often, Chestnut leads the Cyrus Chestnut Trio, as on 2016's Natural Essence with veterans Buster Williams and Lenny White, 2018's Kaleidoscope with Eric Wheeler and Chris Beck, and 2022's M

Then join us at Sturges- Young Center for the Arts on December 13th starting at 7PM for WACKY TRIVIA NIGHT hosted by none other than Craig Tornquist! When Craig did trivia night for our local COA christmas party two years ago, we knew we wanted him to come host for us. He has performed over 3,000 clean comedy acts across America, and now he will entertain you with his hillarious competition, his wacky outfits to his outrageously goofy prizes. This will surely be a night of laugher and fun, and FAMILY FRIENDLY! Included will be an appetizer buffet made by Hippadders Catering! There will also be a cash bar for all your adult beverage needs along with normal non alocholic drinks for the youngins who love trivia. SYCA will go back to a classic holiday film on December 19th! In this Christmas classic, an old man going by the name of Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn) fills in for an intoxicated Santa in Macy's annual Thanksgiving Day parade. Kringle proves to be such a hit that he is soon appearing regularly at the chain's main store in midtown Manhattan. When Kringle surprises customers and employees alike by claiming that he really is Santa Claus, it leads to a court case to determine his mental health and, more importantly, his authenticity

Join us for A Night of Comedy withJon Reep on January 10th 2025. This will be the fourth show in our 2024-2025 performance series. Jon is an American stand-up comedian and actor, known as the "That thing got a Hemi?" guy in Dodge commercials starting in 2004. From 2004 to 2006, he played the recurring character Police Officer Gerald Bob in the ABC sitcom Rodney. In 2007, Reep won the fifth season of Last Comic Standing on NBC.

On January 12th prepare to spend an afternoon with us starting at 2:30pm for the classic Gone with the Wind. It is a historical novel written by American author Margaret Mitchell and published in 1936. February 27th 2025 SYCA will allow the audience to experience this well known classic. Planet of the Apes is a complex sociological film and well known science-fiction classic about three astronauts marooned on a futuristic planet where apes rule and humans are slaves. The stunned trio discovers that these highly intellectual simians can both walk upright and talk. They have even established a class system and a political structure. The astronauts suddenly find themselves part of a devalued species, trapped and imprisoned by the apes

March 13th 2025 we show a "True" western classic. True Grit's story of Tom Chaney (Jeff Corey) murdering the father of 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Kim Darby), she seeks vengeance and hires U.S. Marshal "Rooster" Cogburn (John Wayne), a man of "true grit," to track Chaney into Indian territory. As the two begin their pursuit, a Texas Ranger, La Boeuf (Glen Campbell), joins the manhunt in hopes of capturing Chaney for the murder of a Texas senator and collecting a substantial reward. The three clash on their quest of bringing to justice the same man.

Join us on March 16th and enter the world of Pedal Punk! This is a steampunk inspired place where cycling is the way to esxcape the tecnology obsessed society. In the Pedal Punk tehater show we experience the excitement, artistry and trhill that occurs when a wacky bike shop mechanic interacts with cyclists and bikes. He repairs more than broken peices, he creates wonderous machines and insprires the cyclists in all of us. Doors open 230PM for a 330PM start time!

SYCAs Film Choice for 2024-2025 will end our series on March 27th 2025.
