"A French Excursion"

Albany Chorale, plus choruses from Lee County High School, Colquitt County High School Lenora Green, soprano soloist 6:30 PM - ALBANY MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM Several choruses from south Georgia will be going to Carnegie Hall on March 19, 2022 to perform Francis Poulenc’s choral/orchestral masterpiece “Gloria.” This ASO concert will help prepare them for their experience, share this wonderful music with south Georgia, and serve as a congratulatory send-off. The performance will feature a combined choir including chorus members of the Albany Chorale, Lee County High School, Colquitt County High School, and Valdosta State University. In keeping with the French flavor, Hector Berlioz’ “Roman Carnival Overture,” Lily Boulanger’s “D’un martin du printemps,” and Maurice Ravel’s “Bolero” will be performed.

"Beethoven Lives Upstairs"

10:30 AM Instrument Petting Zoo 11:00 AM - ALBANY MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM The musical/theatrical production of “Beethoven Lives Upstairs” features a lively exchange of letters between young Christoph and his uncle. Their subject: the “madman” who has moved into the upstairs apartment of Christoph’s Vienna home. Through a touching correspondence, dramatically underscored with the composer’s most beautiful excerpts, Christoph slowly comes to understand the genius of Beethoven and the beauty of his music. Back by popular demand is the Albany Symphony Orchestra “Instrument Petting Zoo,” which will take place prior to the performance. Members of the orchestra will be in the lobby of the Municipal Auditorium offering a hands-on opportunity to try-out their instruments An event for music enthusiasts of all ages – bring the entire family to this Saturday morning performance.
