“As a printmaker, I know the magic of the press and I am excited to share this exhibition that celebrates the medium. The works in this show continue The Church’s characteristic way of exploring and examining the bounty of the East End within the global context of contemporary art,” says Samuel Havens, co-curator of MASTER IMPRESSIONS: Artists and Printers on the South Fork (1965-2010). Join us for a curatorial tour, where Sam will guide us through the pieces included in the show, illuminate their stories, printmaking processes, and answer questions along the way.

Co-curated with our Chief Curator Sara Cochran, the exhibition explores the collaborative potential of printmaking, demonstrating how artists, printers, and the press working together can achieve results that surpass individual expertise. Featuring more than 20 works from artists making art on the South Fork of Long Island, Master Impressions, continues to shine a light on the cradle of creativity that is the East End.

ABOUT SAMUEL HAVENS As Workshop & Residency Manager, Havens oversees the development and success of The Church’s residency program and many workshops, including the ever-popular Open Studio- Monotype Printmaking sessions which he co-facilitates. Havens obtained a BFA from SUNY Oneonta in 2021 and has continued to develop his practice in the fields of intaglio printmaking and artist books. His work is held in various private collections and has been exhibited nationwide, including a solo micro-exhibition at the Center for Book Arts.
