Mira Dougherty-Johnson’s novel-in-progress, Art Objects explores representation and portrayal and asks the question of who inherits power over narration and the creation of stories. The novel tells the story of a child born into the New York Art World in the 70’s, who must confront her family and its public, glamorous legacy.
Jenny Xie’s first novel, Holding Pattern, is an exploration of a mother-daughter relationship strained by cultural and generational differences, and how the main character repairs intimacy through the complex work of professional cuddling
