Newly widowed with no source of income, Santosh (Shahana Goswami) is able to inherit her late husband’s position of police constable in Northern India thanks to a government scheme. Wide-eyed and inexperienced, Santosh quickly learns firsthand just how corrupt the police system really is. When the grisly case of a young murdered girl comes to the police force, Santosh gravitates toward the charismatic lead investigator, Sharma (Sunita Rajwar), who takes special notice of Santosh’s dedication and lack of experience. Together, the two begin to pull at the threads of evidence surrounding the girl’s murder as they seek redemption and vengeance. Directed by Sandhya Suri, Santosh deftly navigates the murky and corrupt police system while also examining class, race, and gender roles in Indian society. Santosh must face her darkest demons as she is forced to show how far she is willing to go to find justice within a broken system.
