The Modesto Film Invitational is a spin-off event of the Modesto 48, our annual film competition hosted by the State Theatre and ReTold Productions. Over the past six years, more than 350 filmmaking teams have competed in the Modesto 48. For this special event, we’ve invited 11 of the most decorated directors—each of whom has either won the coveted Best Picture award or earned a prize and reached the top 16 in every one of their competition entries. See them go head-to-head in this exclusive filmmaking showdown.
There are no prizes this time, only a celebration of the incredible filmmaking talent in our local community. Given a full week to write, film, and edit a 10 minute short film, these teams are ready to show what they can do.
