ELLIOT TUTTLE | UNITED STATES | 2025 | 90 MIN | ENGLISH
Rarely has a two-actor chamber piece stirred such heated discourse as Elliot Tuttle’s Blue Film. Despite its provocative premise, Tuttle constructs a chilling and unflinching character study of two very different men struggling with their own identities and past choices. Bulging with confidence and oozing dom energy, popular camboy Aaron Eagle (Kieron Moore) appears to get turned on more by the easy money he makes insulting his eagerly submissive followers online than any of his suggestive moves. What really gets him going, though, is when he receives an anonymous offer of $25,000 to spend the night at a client’s home. Upon arrival he is greeted by a masked older man named Hank (Reed Birney) who insists upon conducting an intimate taped interview with Aaron. Initially feeding Aaron’s ego, Hank’s odd form of foreplay leads to a shocking revealed connection between the two strangers. As the night continues, the two men will confront their darkest secrets and enact taboo fantasies to garner not sympathy, but understanding. Never once does Tuttle’s precise control of this unsettling film’s haunting atmosphere enter into exploitive territory, yet, still, viewer discretion is advised.
