TAMARA KOTEVSKA | NORTH MACEDONIA, UNITED STATES, UNITED KINGDOM | 2025 | 81 MIN | MACEDONIAN
Guided by a Macedonian fable, this lyrical film follows a farmer at a crossroads, facing the economic instability that has driven so many families from his village. While others seek security elsewhere, he remains rooted in the fields he has long tended, determined to preserve the way of life that defines him. When he comes across an injured stork and begins to care for it, the act becomes both a form of companionship and a quiet parallel to his own effort to endure in a place where the future is uncertain. The fable’s narration threads through his journey, linking his choices to generations of myth, memory, and resilience. With breathtaking cinematography and a tender eye, the film captures the stark beauty of the region and the strength of those who continue to work its land. From Tamara Kotevska, the Oscar-nominated director of Honeyland, comes a moving portrait of her homeland, inviting us to reflect on how tradition, myth, and devotion to place can guide us through uncertainty.
