Beginning with the city’s first chartered mayor in 1856, Isaac Newton Whittam, this presentation highlights the men who helped shape Cedar Rapids through their roles as merchants, builders, lawyers, craftsmen, and community developers.More than their terms in office, these mayors influenced the city’s growth through their businesses, civic involvement, and vision for the future. Join us for a fascinating look at how this remarkable group of individuals left a lasting mark on Cedar Rapids, both in life and in their final resting place at Oak Hill Cemetery.
