In 1935, two beloved Soviet satirists undertook an epic cross-country American road trip. In their published accounts of the journey, the writers stressed the divide between the land of the capitalists and the world of socialism. This talk focuses on the Soviet humorists' adventures along the scenic roads of Arizona. It offers a fascinating perspective on 1930s America and a unique view of the process of understanding – or not – people and worlds different from our own.
