Distance in His Eyes: Stewart Udall and the American Environment
Born into a deeply devout Mormon family in rural St. Johns, Arizona, Stewart Udall grew up to become the most successful U.S. Secretary of the Interior in American history. A key player in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, Udall lobbied for the creation of numerous new national parks as well as the National Wilderness Preservation System, Land and Water Conservation Fund, and National Wild & Scenic Rivers System. Udall was a gifted writer and intellectual and in his later years urged the country to tackle global warming-climate change. Discover the life and legacy of a farsighted conservationist during this virtual presentation.
